Entrance Requirements
THE POST 16 CURRICULUM
We are proud to offer a wide range of challenging and highly accredited subjects at Post 16
Level 3: Academic - A Levels
Minimum academic entry requirements to study A Levels are:
Students must have achieved at least 40 GCSE points, calculated as follows, from their best 8 GCSE results:
Grade 9 or 8 = 8 points, Grade 7 = 7 points, Grade 6 = 6 points, Grade 5 = 5 points, etc.

Level 3: Vocational - BTEC
Minimum academic entry requirements to study BTECs are:
Students must have achieved at least 36 GCSE points, calculated as follows, from their best 8 GCSE results:
Grade 9 or 8 = 8 points, Grade 7 = 7 points, Grade 6 = 6 points, Grade 5 = 5 points etc.

Level 3: Vocational and Academic Hybrid
Students can study a combination of A Level and Vocational subjects if they have achieved at least 36 GCSE points.
All students will continue to study Maths and/or English if they do not achieve Grade 4 or above at GCSE.
Sixth Form Open Events
Our Sixth Form Open Evening is on Thursday 17th October 2024. We encourage all Year 11 students to attend as the evening will allow them to investigate the variety of courses that we offer and ask their teachers any questions they may have.
The evening will follow the schedule below:
- 5:45pm - 6.00pm: Refreshments with Head of Key Stage Five and our Sixth Form teachers
- 6.00pm - 6:30pm: Speeches in the hall from Miss Mason, Mr Cook and our Head Students
- 6:30pm - 7:15pm: Subject stalls in the restaurant to allow students to research the subjects we offer and ask any questions.
Following this evening event, there will also be an opportunity for Year 11 students to experience life as a Sixth Former through taster lessons and an assembly, as well as the sessions in form time that have been taking place.

Transition into Sixth Form
Transition Tasks
Students wishing to join the Sixth Form are expected to undertake bridging work over the summer in order to familiarise themselves with Post 16 study and close the gap between GCSE and Level 3 subjects.

Welcome to The Adeyfield Academy Sixth Form
The Adeyfield Academy Sixth Form is a fully-inclusive mixed sixth form with a strong community feel. We offer a large range of traditional 'A' Level and Level 3 BTEC courses and comprehensive support to students in their planning for the next stage in life, post 18, whether that be to university, apprenticeships or employment.
Sixth Form students play a vital role in the life of our school through the extensive range of enrichment and leadership opportunities that we offer. There are also many opportunities for our students to develop their employability and life skills through our personal development programme.
