Adeyfield School - Business Enterprise College & Applied Learning Specialism

Welcome to the Adeyfield School Website

Dear Parents and Carers

In this our first edition of Action Packed Adeyfield, I’d like to start by wishing all our parents, carers, students and friends of Adeyfield School a very Happy New Year.

We left at the end of the Christmas term having had a very busy last few weeks.

Our CAS Christmas Roadshow met over 500 primary school students. Our students were excellent ambassadors for the school and the feedback from the primary schools was outstanding. They then headed to Luton Airport to entertain travellers in arrivals for the third consecutive year. The airport were so impressed they have already booked in next years roadshow. The Christmas music calendar finished with the Adeyfield Christmas Show; an excellent evening showcasing our students’ musical talents. It was great to see so many parents and carers supporting the evening. A huge thanks to Ms Gent and her team for all their time, effort and energy in making all these opportunities available for our young people.

We finished off the year by celebrating our students’ exam achievements in the Upper School Prizegiving. We were delighted to welcome Phil Williams of Plan-it Eco to join us as our guest speaker. Phil captured the audience with his thoughts on global responsibility. I for one could have certainly listened to him for the entire evening. We look forward to welcoming Phil back to Adeyfield to carry out some work with our Eco Council.

We have started the term as we finished the last, busy as ever! Fifty of our Year 9 students have enjoyed a fantastic day at the University of Hertfordshire exploring career and study options after Sixth Form. We hope to repeat this trip again later in the year.

We are looking forward to Year 8 undertaking ‘The Real Game’ next Thursday. This is an opportunity to look at budgeting, career choices and plans for the future.

Sports fixtures have already begun with Year 8 boys’ football. The extra-curricular programme is also in full swing. It would be great to see as many of our students as possible making use of the many different opportunities available to them.

We have just undergone a very positive monitoring visit by the local authority. Many strengths were identified, and our visitors were very pleased with the progress that has already been made on our journey to good and beyond.

I hope you will enjoy reading this edition of APA, which introduces new staff who have joined us, and is packed full of insights into faculty life.
