Curriculum

Subject Information

 

Foundation Stage (Years 7 & 8)

The aim of the Year 7 & 8 curriculum is to engage students and foster a love for learning. The National Curriculum is followed with an emphasis on making learning fun. Assessment throughout the Key Stage is based on work undertaken in class rather than formal testing.

All students follow a core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, French & German, PE, RE, Citizenship and PSHE Technology, ICT and Business, Geography, History and Creative Arts, (Art, Music and Drama).

 

Preparation Stage (Year 9) & Examination Stage (Years 10 & 11)

All students follow a 3-year core curriculum consisting of English, Maths, Science, ICT or Business, Geography or History and PE. PSHE, RE and Citizenship are facilitated across the curriculum and via a series of drop down days which ensure that statutory frameworks are met. The following subjects are offered as options of which students take four.

Post 16

 

Membership of the East Dacorum Consortium provides the framework for our provision at 16+. The Consortium rationale is to provide the range of courses on multiple sites. The school has made a strong contribution to the Consortium provision at both Level 3 ie AS/A Level or equivalent, and provision at Level 2.
